Lessons learned…….

As we have now hit the 7 year mark “officially”, we have been talking about all of the “lessons” we have learned on this journey. We made a “top 10” list. Well, I don’t know if it is a “top 10” list, but it is a list of 10 lessons that we felt were important to share. These are in no particular order.

1. Advocate fiercely for yourself (or let your wife do it for you)! The healthcare system follows “protocols” and “standards of care”, that doesn’t mean it is what’s right for you!
2. Always seek a second opinion, and sometimes a third….even if you go with the first.
3. You CAN dance in a hurricane….in fact you MUST.
4. Music heals the soul….some of us write it, some of us play it, others just listen.
5. Your faith is going to be tested BUT don’t lose your faith….God didn’t “do” this to you.
6. It’s not about “winning” or “losing” its about playing the game with grace and purpose, and achieving peace in the end.
7. You can always “make more money” but you can’t always “make more opportunities”, take advantage of opportunities as they are presented.
8. Dream like you will live forever, live like you will die tomorrow. Have no regrets.
9. Don’t go looking for the reasons….some things I just can’t say better than Chris Stapleton.
10. Our struggles aren’t “worse” or “harder”, they are just different.
